Welcome To The Wiscasset, Waterville, and Farmington Railway Museum

Cross Road, Alna, Maine

Maine's Wiscasset, Waterville, and Farmington Railway was a two-foot gauge common carrier railroad that operated from 1894 until 1933. The line ran from Wiscasset in the south, to Albion and Winslow in the north, never making it to either Waterville or Farmington. The Museum is located at the site of the old Sheepscot station in Alna, with mainline track running north from Cross Road, on the original roadbed.

Visitors: come see a little piece of vintage railroading in action. For more information about how to get to us, our open times, and other information please follow the previous link or see the "About Us/Contact Us" link above.

Volunteers: we're an enthusiastic group who gather every week to help restore a piece of Maine's railroading history. You will find something for your interest and abilities here at Sheepscot Station.

Days and Hours Open

The Museum is open from 9 AM - 5 PM on Saturdays year round, and Sundays between Memorial Day Weekend and Columbus Day Weekend, and other times by chance or appointment. Trains operate only on weekends unless otherwise noted below.

If you're interested in volunteering, just drop in on a Saturday and talk to one of the volunteers for more information on how you can help!

27th National Narrow Gauge Convention Note: The WW&F Railway Museum will be open and operating during the 27th National Narrow Gauge Convention, in Portland, Maine August 29 - September 1, 2007. A chartered bus will be operating on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of that week from Convention site in Portland around Noon, travelling to the WW&F Museum and Boothbay Railway Museum for the afternoon, arriving back at the convention around 6 PM. We will attempt to operate steam during these days, but of course it depends on crew and equipment availability.

2007 Events Schedule

Rules Reviews: The rules reviews are mandatory for all train-qualified volunteers. Only one of three needs to be attended - but failure to attend any, or to make alternate arrangements, will result in qualification being pulled until the review is made. Please see James Patten for questions or alternate arrangements. Each review should only last an hour.

Steam is used for most special events, and is used most weekends between Memorial Day and Columbus Day.

The 2005 Long Range Plan is here. Please note that Adobe Acrobat is required to read it. This document was approved, with incorporated changes, by the Board of Directors on July 2006.
